to all you ladies worried about your scarring after surgery: i wound up using mederma (i have used it for ONE week) and already my scars have faded really rapidly. it’s kind of pricy, but the nice thing is you only have to apply it once a day. just something to think about, since i know there’s a lot of scar-fading products out there. bio oil was okay, but nothing compared to mederma.

i think you just have to go into it not hating your scars. i mean, i definitely don’t. mine were also pretty minimal. i had no real expectations from mederma so when i noticed how well it worked with VERY few side effects, i was pleasantly surprised. but i also think just letting time take its course would have worked—and likely been a healthier alternative.

and by on vacation, i mean i’m at my parents’ house and we’re leaving at 5 AM for the carolinas tomorrow morning.

night one will be spent at my aunt and uncle’s house—where most of the dysfunction on my mother’s side of the family resides. i can scarcely contain my excitement.

then we’re off to charleston. i’ve never been, so if you have any recommendations for good food/drink/things to do/shopping send them my way.

i’m excited to wear my marc jacobs bikini, avoid sunlight, and read.

and eat seafood of course.

i feel like there is truly no actual reason for humans—out of all of the billions of species—to be capable of thought/reason and expressing emotions. in some ways it would be much easier if that wasn’t the case. because i don’t believe that anything is preordained, i suppose i do feel that our evolution was pretty random and without meaning…

which is depressing, but i just can’t rationalize any other theory on why we are the way we are. i try to make the most of having a mind that lets me think critically even though i think too much about everything to the point where it makes me sad and it would be easier if i was just a cat
